Pumpkin Picking at Ward’s Berry Farm

Happy National Pumpkin Day!

I have come to believe that pumpkin picking from a patch that lets you do it off the vine is an absolute fall MUST. There was THE pumpkin patch that everyone raved about in Virginia Beach, but figuring out our spot here in Massachusetts was a bit more of a process – so many options and recommendations from people online!

Thankfully, I scored some tips from co-workers who are mostly born and raised in Mass. Alex and I knew we wanted to get some expansive views of the foliage, at least through a mini road trip, and make a day out of it so we excitedly went for Ward’s Berry Farm.

Coming from Boston, it was about a 40 minute drive with weekend, no-Pats-game, traffic. It was actually fun to take a side trip to Patriot’s Place in Foxborough without the usual football commotion for brunch. We had delicious food at Twenty8 Restaurant (highly recommend the corn beef hash, or tell me if you try their buffet!), though we could have just as well saved our appetites and tried the cafe in the farm.

There were things to do for everybody at Ward’s Berry farm, including fun spots for fantastic family photos! The hayride would be great for a group with kiddos, but we opted to skip the $3 fee and took the super short walk to the pumpkin patch. With our cart in tow, it was game over. I had to practice some restraint on behalf of our quaint Boston apartment once we arrived by the registers and all the charming little gourds and mums were competing for attention. AND they had cider donuts.

Perhaps next year.
